New Dali Lamb Gallery Targeted for Downtown Chicago
CHICAGO - September 22, 2008 - Chicagoans and visitors to the city may soon be treated to a major new downtown attraction, a gallery displaying the works of international artists Salvador Dali and Matt Lamb. A number of invaluable pieces will be featured in a yet-to-be-located gallery sought by the Matt Lamb Chicago Peace Museum. The Museum has retained Titan Commercial, a Chicago-based real estate brokerage firm, to find a 20,000 square foot site that will fulfill the gallery's requirements including extensive, unobstructed floor space and large, bright rooms with high ceilings.
"What makes this particularly significant is that while Matt Lamb is one of few Chicago artists to achieve international fame, his work has never been properly recognized in Chicago," notes Titan Commercial President Ben Rosenfield.
Lamb, whose family operated a chain of Blake-Lamb funeral parlors, opened his first painting studio in Chicago in 1986 at the age of 54 and subsequently decided to dedicate his works of art to help spread a message of peace, tolerance, hope, communication and love among men. "The Lamb Umbrellas for Peace," launched in response to the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, is a project in which 38 children who lost loved ones expressed their hope for an end to violence by painting colorful umbrellas in a 3-day workshop in Washington D.C. "The Lamb Umbrellas for Peace" endeavor is just one example of Lamb's dedication and has since spread worldwide where over 500,000 children have painted umbrellas for peace.
"We're hoping to resolve our search in time for a March 2009 opening that will include the original works of renowned artists including Picasso, Miro and Chagall as well as Lamb and Dali," explained Sheila Lamb-Gabler, President of Matt Lamb Studios. A Dali patron involved in the foundation of the Museum will also donate a large original work of the celebrated Spanish-born surrealist painter who died in 1989 at the age of 84.
"It is without question that this gallery will add significantly to the cultural attractions of downtown Chicago," declared Rosenfield. "It will also perhaps enhance Chicago's bid for the 2016 Olympics," he noted.
Titan Commercial, established in 2007, is affiliated with Magellan Development Group, one of Chicago's largest real estate developers, and is a full-service brokerage firm that has been active in representing both tenants and landlords, principally in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan and represents both sellers and purchasers in investment property nationwide.
